QU’s Norris, Knoblauch receive honorable mention All-American after historic campaign
QUINCY — For the first time in program history, the Quincy University women’s volleyball team has two players mentioned on the All-American lists.
Senior outside hitter Mattison Norris and graduate student setter Makayla Knoblauch received honorable mention on the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II All-American squad after leading the Hawks to their finest season as an NCAA program.
Both student-athletes became eligible for All-American honors after being named All-Midwest Region by both the AVCA and the D2CCC. They also were unanimous first-team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selections.
Norris led the Hawks with 366 kills, while hitting at a .266 clip. She also had 303 digs and 40 blocks. She collected 902 kills during her three seasons at QU and finished her collegiate career with 1,067 kills.
Knoblauch finished the season with 1,161 assists, 320 digs and 59 blocks. Her 1,161 assists rank fifth on QU’s single-season best list, while her 4,147 career digs are second most. Knoblauch also had 1,248 career digs.
Quincy went 28-3, won the GLVC regular-season championship with a 11-1 record, and earned the No. 1 seed for the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional.
