Schuck on a Truck: Volleyball Player of the Year Annie Eaton discusses QND’s season, her victory-filled four-year career
QUINCY — Coaches, teammates and opponents have used a variety of adjectives to describe Annie Eaton’s impact on the Quincy Notre Dame volleyball team and the area volleyball scene the past four years.
Strategic. Intelligent. Savvy. Composed. Savage. Dynamic. Lethal.
Those are just a few.
One sums up her career better than any other.
Winner.
The senior setter guided the Raiders to a Class 2A elite eight appearance this past season, and the Raiders won 135 matches in her four-year varsity career with an 88.8 win percentage. Three regional titles, three sectional crowns and numerous tourney championships are part of her winning resume.
It made her the clear-cut choice for the Muddy River Sports 2024 Area Volleyball Player of the Year.
Eaton dished out 834 assists as the Raiders went 36-3, losing in three sets to eventual state champion Breese Mater Dei in the super-sectional. She had 119 kills and 78 aces and ran an offense with multiple hitting options that she could pick and choose where to go with the attack.
She finished her career with more than 3,000 assists, becoming one of just seven players in Illinois High School Association history to reach that mark. Her numbers, her leadership and her volleyball IQ earned her the Michio Chicago/illprepvb.com Player of the Year for the state of Illinois.
Eaton sat down with Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman to discuss her season and her career for this Player of the Year episode of “Schuck on a Truck,” brought to you by Shottenkirk Toyota.
