QUINCY — The weather Saturday didn’t mirror what many of us think of when we talk about basketball season, which normally invokes images of a winter coats and snow-covered roads. However, the 90-degree sun-splashed day made it ideal for the Quincy University men’s basketball team to stay inside.

The Hawks officially began practice for the 2024-25 season on Friday and will have a 35-day window in which they are allowed 25 contact days before opening their season Nov. 8 in the GLVC-GMAC Crossover in Findlay, Ohio.

First-year QU coach Brad Hoyt joined Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman on the tailgate of his pickup to discuss how fall workouts went, the urgency needed to get up to speed quickly and what the coaching staff wants to accomplish over the next four weeks for this episode of “Schuck on a Truck,” brought to you by Shottenkirk Toyota.
