QUINCY — Although his playing career was officially over, Jonny Bottorff didn’t want to stray far from the game he loved.

Coaching keeps him connected to football for now and the foreseeable future.

The Quincy Notre Dame graduate, who was an All-Big Sky Conference center at Northern Arizona last season, is headed California to get his first taste of college coaching. Bottorff will be an assistant offensive line coach and offensive quality control coach for Cal Poly, an FCS program located in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Before leaving this week, Bottorff joined Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman on the tailgate of his pickup to talk about closing the chapter on his playing career and shifting his focus to becoming a coach for this episode of “Schuck on a Truck,” brought to you by Shottenkirk Toyota.
