Schuck on a Truck: CS8 football coaches discuss future of league, which will include QND

WINCHESTER, Ill. — On a farm pond in rural Scott County, Jacksonville football coach Mark Grounds showed the ability to slay 5- and 6-pound catfish over and over again.

What he has done as president of the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association is more impressive.

The long-time Crimsons skipper has enhanced a network of coaches statewide, while connecting with University of Illinois coach Bret Bielema to give the IHSFCA a stronger voice and more say in the way the game is played throughout the Land of Lincoln.

Grounds joined Rochester coach Derek Leonard and Truman State offensive coordinator Jason Killday — the one-time Sacred Heart-Griffin assistant slayed bass from the farm pond with ease — joined Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman for an episode of “Schuck on a Truck” to discuss the upcoming football season, the future of the Central State Eight Conference and Quincy Notre Dame joining the league in 2024.
