Wiewel’s homer to lead off seventh sparks seven-run surge to give Raiders victory over Clark County

KAHOKA, Mo. — Another day, another Abram Wiewel home run — but this one ignited a game-saving rally.
With the Quincy Notre Dame baseball team trailing Clark County 11-10 in the top of the seventh inning on Tuesday, Wiewel belted a leadoff home run, sparking a seven-run inning. Bradi Lahr hit a two-run home run three batters later, and the Raiders tacked on four more runs before Rowan Stegeman retired the Indians in order in the bottom of the inning to finish off a 17-11 Raiders victory.
Wiewel finished 4 for 4 with five RBIs and scored three runs. Every player in the Raiders’ lineup recorded a hit and either drove in or scored a run, and seven scored multiple runs.
The Raiders let a 9-3 lead slip away when the Indians scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth, capped off by Ryder Howe’s two-run home run that gave Clark County a 10-9 advantage.
Elijah Miller singled home a run to give the Indians an 11-9 lead in the fifth, then the Raiders cut that lead in half on a Weston Reyburn two-out RBI single in the sixth.
Wiewel’s home run was his 10th of the season, and Lahr has home runs in back-to-back games. The Raiders have scored 60 runs in their last four games and are averaging 8.5 runs per game this season. QND (14-6) will return home to face off against Camp Point Central on Friday.
