AUGUSTA, Ill. — Abram Wiewel hit his 12th home run of the season and freshman Reese Schertel hurled a complete game two-hitter for his first varsity victory as the Quincy Notre Dame baseball team cruised to a 12-2 victory over Southeastern in five innings on Wednesday.

Wiewel also drove in four runs for the Raiders (17-7). Eli Johnson, Rowan Stegeman and Gavin Doellman each had two hits.

Notre Dame scored in every inning but the second, and it collected 12 hits. Doellman hit a two-run triple in the first inning and scored on a single by Logan Sutton.

The Raiders scored five times in the third. Oliver Triplett hit a two-run single, and after the next two batters reached on errors, courtesy runner Logan Woodyard scored. A triple by Eli Johnson scored a run, and a double by Wiewel scored another run.

Notre Dame added a single run in the fourth inning, and Wiewel tagged a three-run home run in the fifth.

Johnson, Wiewel, Doellman and Rowan Stegeman — the first four hitters in the Raiders’ batting order — all had two hits. Brady McClintock and Aundre Roberts had the only hits for the Suns.

Schertel allowed two hits and walked four while striking out six in five innings.
