Ten-run inning turns fourth game of series against Lewis into blowout loss for Hawks
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – A 10-run fourth inning helped the 18th-ranked Lewis baseball team cruise to a 19-9 victory on Sunday over Quincy University to conclude a four-game series.
Lewis led 3-0 after one inning. After QU’s Harry Fandre hit his sixth homer of the season in the second, the Flyers answered with three more runs in the bottom of the second.
The Flyers then scored once in the third, but Quincy got within 6-4 in the top of the fourth. Byron Blaise drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Cole Erickson drove in two runs with a double to left.
Lewis then blew the game open. After six hits, two errors, two hit batters and a walk, QU trailed 17-4.
Ben Dahlof had three hits and three RBIs for the Hawks, while Fandre, Isaiah Fudge, Cole Erickson and Carson Moreno added two hits each.
The Hawks (16-22) dropped to 9-11 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play and fell into 10th place. Lewis (28-8) is in first place with a 17-3 league record.
