Stellar play in road victory earns Bulldogs’ Marth GLVC Defensive Player of the Week

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Jack Marth’s collegiate football career is off to an award-winning start.

The Quincy Notre Dame graduate was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week after making several key plays in Truman State’s 27-9 victory over Wayne State last Saturday in Detroit.

Marth recorded his first career sack and first forced fumble in the fourth quarter after the Warriors reached the Bulldogs’ 30-yard line. Truman State recovered the fumble and ran out the clock on its second victory.

The 6-foot, 243-pound freshman defensive end finished with five tackles and two quarterback hurries. He has seven total tackles, four total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss in two games. He leads the Bulldogs with three quarterback hurries.

The Bulldogs play their home opener at noon Saturday at Stokes Stadium against Hillsdale.
