QUINCY — The Quincy University women’s soccer team continues to keep itself in the conversation for postseason play. The QU men are desperately trying to get some results that do that same.

Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Southwest Baptist moved the QU women to 3-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and into ninth place in the league standings. The top eight teams qualify for the GLVC Tournament, and the Hawks, who are 3-7-1 overall, have six league games remaining.

Ella Wolfard scored off a Lisa Albarran assist in the 39th minute to give the Hawks the edge. QU goalkeeper Eva Norris made 12 saves to preserve the shutout.

In the nightcap of the GLVC doubleheader, the QU men took the lead two minutes before halftime on Jake Ellis’ goal, but the Bearcats scored the equalizer in the 57th minute and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The Hawks are 1-4-2 in GLVC play, which has them 11th in the 14-team league, but they are just three points out of eighth place.
