Culver-Stockton’s Fry named Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Week
CANTON, Mo. — Culver-Stockton College guard Robert Fry II is the WinWon Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week; the league announced Monday.
Fry, a 6-foot-1 junior from Indianapolis, registered 20 points or more in all three Wildcat victories last week. He averaged 20.7 points, two rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 48.7 percent (19-39) from the field and 50 percent (5-10) from the 3-point stripe. In addition, Fry went 19 of 27 from the free-throw line for 70.4 percent.
Fry came off the bench to score 21 points in 25 minutes in a 74-69 victory over Park (Mo.) on Monday night. On Wednesday, Fry started and scored 21 points in 41 minutes of a 94-83 overtime victory at Clarke (Iowa). Then, on Saturday, Fry garnered 20 points in 29 minutes of a 74-72 victory over Benedictine (Kan.) at Charles Field House.
For the season, Fry, a former conference freshman of the year, is averaging a team-high 15 points per game. He has scored 20 or more points five times this season and 17 times in his career. In addition, Fry is shooting 38 percent (93-245) from the field, including 37.7 (23-61) percent from the 3-point arc, and 78.3 percent (90-115) from the free throw line.
The Wildcats (11-11) are scheduled to play two road games this week beginning Wednesday night, Feb. 7, at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. Gam time is set for 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 10, C-SC travels to Des Moines, Iowa, to face Grand View University. That game is slated to start at 4 p.m.
