South Shelby girls dominate relays, take first place in Class 2 District 3 track and field meet
GLASGOW, Mo. — South Shelby’s four relay teams were all victorious, leading the way to the championship at the Class 2 District 3 girls track and field meet on Saturday afternoon at Glasgow High School.
The Lady Birds scored 125 points to outdistance Westran (92), Monroe City (73) and Scotland County (69).
South Shelby won the 4×100 in 51.49 and the 4×200 in 1:48.59 with Sofia Eleazarraraz, Gracynn Lanpher, Belle Roush and Callie McWilliams. Roush, Lanpher, McWilliams and Samentha Koper won the 4×400 in 4:10.61 and the all-freshman team of Makenzie Wilt, Ainsleigh Truitt, Avery Gough and Koper won the 4×800 in 10:16.06.
Charlie Roush won the javelin with a throw of 36.237 meters and the shot put with a throw of 11.17 meters. McWilliams took first in the triple jump at 11.51 meters. Koper took second in the 800-meter run, and Lanpher won the 300-meter hurdles in 48.30 seconds.
Highland’s Chevie Sharpe won three events — the 1,600-meter run in 5:28.05, the 800-meter run in 2:25.75 and the 400-meter run in 58.33.
Monroe City’s Bradi Keller placed second in two events — the 3,200-meter run in 12:41.85 and the pole vault in 2.85 meters. Teammate Timia Reinberg took second in the discus with a throw of 36.07 meters.
Mark Twain had two second-place finishes: Amaris Melvin in the 100-meter dash in 17.03 seconds and Ella Moss in the long jump at 5.06 meters.
