INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Quincy University pitcher Kade Ruffner was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s pitcher of the week for the week of April 28, the final week of the regular season.

Ruffner had the best outing of his career on Saturday, May 3, at Truman State, shutting out the Bulldogs for seven innings to pick up the complete game 6-0 victory. He surrendered just two hits and a walk while recording a career-best nine strikeouts.

The victory was Ruffner’s fourth of the season. The redshirt sophomore from Bryant, Ark., has won two of his last three starts.

Quincy swept a four-game set with Truman State last weekend to close the regular season and clinch a playoff berth in the GLVC Tournament, which begins Wednesday, May 7, at Mtn Dew Park in Marion. The Hawks earned the No. 6 seed and will play third-seeded Maryville at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
