Raiders pound out 36 hits, 32 runs and six home runs in doubleheader sweep of Alton Marquette
QUINCY — Caitlin Bunte had seven hits in eight at-bats, including three home runs, and drove in 10 runs during the Quincy Notre Dame softball team’s 17-2 and 15-4 victories over Alton Marquette on Saturday at the Backyard.
Bunte went 4 for 4 with two home runs, four runs scored and five RBIs in the first game, and Morgan Zanger went 3 for 3 with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBIs. Alyssa Ley and Sophia White both had three hits in the game, and the Raiders collected 20 hits in the game.
Notre Dame (19-4) scored four runs in the first, eight runs in the second and five runs in the third.
Madalyn Boyer was the winning pitcher, allowing three hits and one earned run while walking none.
Bunte, Ley and Lauren Miller each had three hits and scored three runs in the second game. Miller also drove in four runs. The Raiders collected 16 hits.
Alton Marquette scored twice in the first and twice in the second to lead 4-0, but Notre Dame took the lead with six runs in the bottom of the second. Five runs in the third and four runs in the fifth ended the game.
Bunte came on in relief in the second inning and pitched four scoreless innings to earn the victory. She allowed one hit and walked one batter while striking out seven.
