HAMILTON, Ill. — Caitlin Bunte came within a home run of the cycle, five players had multiple hits and Madalyn Boyer tossed a five-hit complete game as the Quincy Notre Dame softball team handled West Hancock 9-2 in Tuesday’s West Central Conference game.

QND center fielder Morgan Winking helped get the Raiders on the board in the top of the second inning when she reached on an error by second baseman Kaia Figge, allowing Josie Boyer and Madalyn Boyer to score.

Morgan Zanger extended the Raiders’ lead to 4-0 with a two-run double in the third, and Cadence Smith notched a two-out RBI single to stretch the lead to five. The Raiders added a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and another in the seventh to give Madalyn Boyer plenty of insurance. Boyer struck out six, walked three and gave up one earned run — Jadyn Climer’s home run in the fifth inning.

Bunte singled leading off the game, tripled in the fourth and doubled in the sixth to get within a round-tripper of hitting for the cycle. She came to bat one more time with two outs in the seventh, but she flew out to center field.

Alyssa Ley, Zanger and the Boyers all had two hits for the Raiders (24-4, 8-0 WCC), which have won nine consecutive games dating back to April 23. QND rounds out the regular season with a road conference game against Camp Point Central on Wednesday.
