QND softball team eclipses 20-victory mark for sixth consrcutive year with 16-1 decision over Southeastern

QUINCY — Caitlin Bunte homered to center field to lead off the bottom of the first inning for the Quincy Notre Dame softball team, which went on to post a 16-1 victory over Southeastern on Tuesday afternoon at the Backyard.

The victory enables the Raiders (20-4) to reach the 20-victory plateau for the sixth consecutive season under the direction of Coach Eric Orne.

Lanie Fesler contributed to a four-run first inning with a two-run two-out double. Khloe Schreacke had a two-run single and Bunte hit a bases-clearing double in the eight-run second inning. 

Two walks, two errors, two wild pitches, two passed balls, a double and a single led to a four-run third inning.

A fielding error led to the Suns’ only run in the fourth inning.

Morgan Zanger had two hits for Notre Dame, which took advantage of eight Southeastern errors. Kassie Putnam had the Suns’ only hit.
