MOUNT STERLING, Ill. — Brown County senior right-hander Eli Staton held Augusta Southeastern off the scoreboard in six innings of work on Wednesday before handing the ball off to Collin Dieterle, who made his first pitching appearance since having Tommy John surgery in July 2024, as the Hornets beat the Suns 8-0.

Staton gave up four hits, struck out six and walked one on 78 pitches. Dieterle struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh. The Hornets had lost back-to-back games after a nine-game winning streak prior to that.

Muddy River Sports Writer Shane Hulsey captured these images from Brown County High School. The game was moved to Mount Sterling due to wet conditions in Augusta.
