Pittsfield’s Emma Wombles and Pleasant Hill’s Ava Wombles, who are distant cousins, combined for 29 strikeouts and just five walks from the pitcher’s circle in Pittsfield’s 4-3 victory over Pleasant Hill on Tuesday afternoon in Pleasant Hill.

“It was a pitcher’s duel, for sure,” Wolves coach Ryan Lowe said. “Both girls did a phenomenal job. There were some runs on the board, but that was a good game, good performances by both of them.”

Sports Writer Shane Hulsey captured some photos from the game.
