SPRINGFIELD — Two Quincy Gems pitchers combined on a five-hitter in a 10-2 victory over the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes Wednesday night in a Prospect League game at Robin Roberts Field.

The Gems (8-12) have won three straight games and are in second place, a half-game ahead of Illinois Valley, in the Great River Division and trail division-leading Clinton by 4½ games.

Starter Cole Parkhill earned the victory, allowing just three hits while navigating around seven walks to allow two runs in five innings. Reliever Stefan Stockwell shut the door on Springfield, allowing two hits in four scoreless innings while striking out five.

Quincy tied the score at 1-1 in the third inning when Cross Jumper’s double scored Joe Siervo. The Gems then took the lead for good in the fourth with four more runs. Riley Black tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a wild pitch. After Cam Suto walked and Jack Zebig singled, Logan Voth delivered a two-out RBI single to right. Siervo then doubled to center to score Zebig and Voth.

Kyle Hvidsten’s sacrifice fly scored a run in the fifth, and the Gems followed with three more runs in the sixth. Luke Jessen led off with a solo homer, and Siervo and Jumper were walked. Lucas Loos and Black then both contributed RBI singles.

Zebig’s third hit of the game was an RBI single to right in the ninth.
