Palmyra tied with Springfield Catholic after first round of Missouri Class 2 state golf championship
SEDALIA, Mo. — Palmyra and Springfield Catholic are tied for the lead after the first day of the Missouri State High School Athletic Activities Class 2 boys state golf championship at the Sedalia Country Club. Their team scores of 330 are just two strokes ahead of South Shelby.
Ty Brandt of Fatima is the leader, shooting a 3-over par 73, with Macon’s Hagan Ritter in second place with a 74. Monday’s play was delayed twice by lightning and rain, and a handful of golfers will finish their round on Tuesday morning before the second round gets under way.
Jonas Janes of Palmyra is tied for ninth at 79, while teammates Skeeter Kroeger and Abram Getz are tied for 25th at 83. Tony White shot an 85 and is in 38th place.
Noah Wilt of South Shelby is tied for 13th at 80. Colt Schmitz is tied for 21st at 82. Carson Gough is tied for 33rd with an 84, and Titus Moore is tied for 41st with an 86.
Monroe City’s Cole Hays shot a 91 and is tied for 67th.
Eugene leads the Class 1 boys state golf championships at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield with a 331, followed by Lockwood (338) and Valle Catholic (356).
Canton is in seventh place with a team score of 370. Freshman Noah Bringer had the Tigers’ best score with a 14-over par 86, putting him in a tie for 22nd. Tyler Frazier shot a 90, Preston Brewer shot a 94 and Avery Uhlmeyer shot a 100.
Hannibal’s Kyle Locke shot a 9-over 81 and is in 39th place at the Class 4 boys state golf championships at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar.
