WELLSVILLE, Mo. — The Mark Twain baseball team — except for catcher Eli Snodgrass — didn’t need to bring their gloves to Thursday’s high school baseball game against Wellsville-Middletown.

Right-handed pitcher Nolan Epperson recorded 17 strikeouts and didn’t allow a hit in 5 2/3 innings before Treyton Clements came on to record the final out — a lineout to third baseman Brayden Moss — in a 10-0 victory.

Epperson walked six and threw 110 pitches before Clements wrapped up the game.

The victory was the first of the season for the Tigers, who lost 10 straight to open the season.

Mark Twain scored in every inning but the second, wrapping up the game with a four-run outburst in the top of the sixth. A single, a walk and a hit batter loaded the bases for the Tigers. Gunnar Long drew a bases-loaded walk, and J.R. Henderson’s groundout drove in a run. Landen Armour then drove in two more runs with a single to left.
