MACOMB, Ill. — Once Langdon Lambert worked his way out of a tough first inning, the Quincy Notre Dame baseball team didn’t harm him again.

The Macomb right-hander limited the Raiders to three hits over the final six scoreless innings to close out a 9-2 victory Tuesday at Phil Bradley Field. Lambert struck out seven, walked none and retired 11 of the final 12 batters he faced.

First, though, he had to get out of the first inning.

With out, QND’s Abram Wiewel doubled and went to third base on Rowan Stegeman’s infield single. Wiewel scored on a passed ball, and Gavin Doellman doubled to left field to drive in Stegeman to make it 2-0. A strikeout and a pop out got Lambert out of the inning without further damage.

The Bombers got a run back in the bottom of the first inning as Emmett Beck, Nick Elbe and Lambert strung together three consecutive two-out singles. Macomb took the lead in the second inning with a pair of two-out runs, getting a bases-loaded, two-run single from Beck.

Macomb tacked on a single run in the third inning and plated five runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by Elbe’s bases-clearing double. The Bombers scored eight of their nine runs with two outs.

Beck finished 3 for 3 with three RBIs, while Elbe, Lambert and Jaxon Barclay each had two hits as the Bombers improved to 14-13. Wiewel had two hits as the Raiders (17-9) lost for the third time in their last four games.
