Jammin’ jamborees help get Missouri squads ready for season openers

It’s beginning to feel a lot like football season, everywhere we go. The Pirates are first and 10, the Panthers are popping again and the coaches are yelling go, go, go.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like football season, kids are back in school. And the prettiest sight you’ll see is a running back who’ll be dashing to the end zone.

So it might not be exactly Christmas, but the opening of the prep football season does feel like a holiday.

Friday night felt like Christmas eve. While Illinois high school teams held their traditional intrasquad scrimmages, their Missouri counterparts took aim at each other in a series of controlled scrimmages. Although the coaches and officials were close at hand and monitoring every play, there was still plenty of thumping and hitting as teams prepared for the August 27 season openers.
