HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal baseball team’s bid for a three-game conference winning streak ended in a 13-1 loss to Moberly on Monday at the Veterans Sports Complex.

The Spartans scored six runs in the first inning and had an 8-0 lead before the Pirates came to bat in the bottom of the second. Hannibal scored its only run that inning when Azariah Tucker reached on an error with two outs, allowing Konnor Asbury to score.

Moberly scored four more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth, then Spartans pitcher Jackson Engel blanked the Pirates in the bottom of the fifth, putting the mercy rule into effect. The Pirates mustered just three hits off of Engel.

Hannibal (9-12, 4-4 NCMC) continues conference play with a road game against Marshall on Tuesday. Moberly (21-3, 6-0) has won 13 games in a row.
