QUINCY — Geneseo pitcher Kendyl Wassenhove never allowed the Quincy High School softball team to find its footing in the batter’s box Thursday.

Wassenhove limited the Blue Devils to two hits over five innings, striking out seven and leading the Maple Leafs to a 17-0 Western Big 6 Conference victory at the QHS field. Wassenhove walked one and allowed only one runner advance to second base.

Geneseo built its lead by scoring twice without a hit in the first inning as Quincy committed two errors and walked three batters. The Maple Leafs tacked on a pair of two-out runs in the second and three more two-out runs in the third. After plating a run in the fourth, Geneseo put the game out of reach with a nine-run fifth inning.

The Blue Devils (10-17) committed seven errors, walked four batters and hit two others. Maycee Seward and Kasey Leenerts had singles for Quincy.
