Gems’ Loos named Prospect League’s Hitter of the Week

QUINCY — The Quincy Gems’ Lucas Loos was selected Wednesday as the Prospect League’s Hitter of the Week for the fifth week of the season. 

Loos, a Payson native, is in his second season with the Gems and plays third base. During four games played between June 28 and July 4, Loos batted .438 in 16 at-bats with seven hits, six runs scored, one double, four home runs and 15 runs batted in. He totaled 20 total bases, compiling a 1.800 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) and only struck out twice.

Loos has hit a league-best eight home runs this season, and his 36 runs batted in ranks him fifth in the league. His .577 slugging percentage ranks eighth in the league. He’s hitting .258 this season.

The Pitcher of the Week is Ryan Daly from the Thrillville Thrillbillies.
