Gems give up 18 runs in loss to division-leading Clinton

CLINTON, Iowa — The Quincy Gems allowed 15 hits, gave up nine walks, hit three batters and committed three errors in an 18-8 loss to the Clinton LumberKings Sunday night in a Prospect League game at NelsonCorp Field.

The Gems (10-14) lost their second straight game. They are in second place in the Great River Division, one half-game ahead of Illinois Valley but trailing division-leading Clinton by 4 games.

The Gems gave up four runs in the first and two in the third, but it was a nine-run sixth inning by Clinton that blew the game open. 

Starter Stefan Stockwell took the loss, going four innings and allowing six hits, four walks and six runs.

Joe Siervo, Logan Voth and Luke Jessen each had two hits for Quincy.
