Game Night Grub

• An outside recommendation makes me want to try this place the next time I make the trek to Sterling and Roscoe Eades Stadium. The reviewer said Smoked on 3rd BBQ and Catering will “treat anyone’s tastebuds to a flavor explosion. The BBQ in on-point and the Thankful turkey sandwich will have you thinking of Thanksgiving. Try something with the Boo-Yah sauce if you want a real treat.” With wings and stacked sandwiches on the menu, sounds like a great place to stop and stretch the legs before taking in a WB6 affair.

• Everyone enjoys nachos and football, right? They go hand-in-hand like any great combination. But what if I suggested filling up on ice cream nachos before the game? Would you be interested? Head to El Pueblito Mexican Restaurant & Buffet in Beardstown and feel free to skip right to dessert for sweet nachos. If you want to spice it up first, try the caldo de camaron — shrimp soup. You won’t walk out hungry and you’ll make kickoff.

• A pregame meal of pizza and wings at a place called the Pigskin Pub and Pizza, could you possibly go wrong? For those traveling to Brookfield to watch state-ranked Monroe City, this sounds like the right place to get in the Friday Night Lights kind of mood. A quaint establishment with food bursting with flavor is always a touchdown.
