Bunte hits homer, hurls one-hit shutout as QND softball team runs winning streak to eight games

QUINCY — Caitlin Bunte tossed a one-hit shutout and hit a two-run home run as the Quincy Notre Dame softball team won its eighth game in a row, dispatching Pleasant Hill 8-0.

Bunte’s two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning gave the Raiders a 5-0 lead, Lauren Miller extended that lead to six with her second of two run-scoring hits. The other was a double in the first. 

Bunte added a leadoff double in the sixth and scored on an Alyssa Ley double. She struck out seven batters and walked none while only throwing 73 pitches in seven innings. She did not allow a baserunner after Kaitlyn Borrowman’s single with two outs in the first.

The Raiders (23-4) will face West Hancock in a West Central Conference game on Tuesday. Pleasant Hill (12-7) will play host Mendon Unity on Friday.
