The Blue Devils scored nine runs in the top of the third inning of their Western Big 6 Conference game against United Township to take a 9-3 lead, but that lead only lasted two innings. The Panthers rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fourth, tied the game in the bottom of the fifth then took a 10-9 lead on a Dominic Stotter two-out RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.
James Day singled leading off the top of the seventh, but Isaac Roman retired the next three Quincy batters to close out a 10-9 Panthers victory.
Nate Konrad gave the Blue Devils a 4-3 lead with a three-run home run in the nine-run third. Five straight Quincy hitters reached with two outs to bring in three more runs.
A single, error, hit by pitch and a walk lead to two Panthers runs with one in the bottom of the fourth. Landon Skiles delivered the inning’s big blow with a bases-clearing, two-out double.
Quincy (8-13, 3-7 WB6) will hit the road again for a date with Beardstown on Thursday.
