Blue Devils’ four-game winning streak comes to end as Moline wins by 10-run rule in WB6 game
MOLINE, Ill. — The Quincy High School baseball team’s four-game winning streak was snapped on Monday as Moline scored 11 runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to win 11-1 in a Western Big 6 Conference game at Holmgren Field.
The Blue Devils (6-11) had chances to score in each of the five innings played but left eight runners stranded. Their only run came in the fourth inning when Trace Routh singled, Gavin Fink drew a two-out walk and Kade Parkhill hit a run-scoring single.
Moline broke the scoreless tie with back-to-back home runs by Dylan Phelps and Chase Henry to lead off the third inning, followed by back-to-back doubles. Henry homered again in the fourth, and the Maroons plated another run with a double and a triple in the inning.
Moline scored five runs in the fifth with two outs, collecting two walks, a hit by pitch, three singles and a double to end the game.
Moline will play Quincy again on Wednesday afternoon at the QHS field.
