Blue Devils explode offensively, pile up 29 runs in just three innings of victory over Suns

QUINCY — A 16-run inning featured every player in the Quincy High School softball team’s lineup scoring at least once as the Blue Devils beat Southeastern 29-4 in four innings Wednesday.

The Blue Devils had just 11 hits, but they took advantage of 11 walks and one hit batter in their highest scoring game of the season.

Quincy trailed 2-0 going to the bottom of the first inning before scoring six runs without a hit. The Blue Devils had four batters hit by pitches in the frame. A seven-run second inning was highlighted by Maggie Neally’s two-run single.

In the third inning, the Blue Devils (10-17) scored 16 times with Ivy Winter smacking a three-run, inside-the-park home run. Avary Hlubek capped the inning with a three-run home run to center field. 

Adriana Adorno and Neally each had three hits, while Winter had two hits and drove in six runs and Hlubek drove in four runs. Izzy Weppler struck out three and walked two over three innings to earn the victory.
