Blue Devils can’t keep good times rolling in softball conference loss to United Township
EAST MOLINE, Ill. — Just when the Quincy High School softball team appeared to be building momentum in their Western Big 6 Conference clase with United Township on Tuesday, the Panthers snatched it from them and ran away with it.
After Carlee Gilker hit a three-run home run to trim the Blue Devils’ deficit to 6-3 in the top of the third, the Panthers scored 11 unanswered runs, four of which came on two home runs in the fourth, to upend the Blue Devils 17-3. That loss snapped Quincy’s three-game winning streak.
Quincy (4-7, 1-4 WB6) will face Quincy Notre Dame (14-2) Wednesday at Avenue of Lights Field.
