At QHS field, Quincy
Quincy High School 9, Unity 0: Junior right-hander Joe Schroeder fashioned a one-hitter, while striking out nine and walking one. The Mustangs loaded the bases in the second inning on Bryson Muegge’s single, Nick Maynard’s walk and Gavin Bruns getting hit by a pitch, but Schroeder got out of it with three strikeouts. Not another Mustang reached base as Schroeder retired 18 in a row. Grayson Cook went 4 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI, while Connor Schwindeler went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Noah Harbin was 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs. The Blue Devils are 14-11.
At Carthage, Ill.
Illini West 7, Brown County 4: Bradyn Robertson kept the Hornets in check the first four innings, and he gave himself some run support. Robertson went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, jacking a two-run home run in the first inning that erased Brown County’s 1-0 lead. The Chargers never trailed again. Robertson limited the Hornets to two runs and four hits over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Logan Kissinger struck out four and gave up two unearned runs over the final three innings. Colby Wort and Mason Henry each had three hits for the Hornets. Brown County’s Sam Carr allowed six runs and five hits with four strikeouts over 3⅓ innings.
At Astoria, Ill.
Southeastern 16, South Fulton 2: The Suns scored in each of the five innings, putting the game away with a seven-run outburst in the fourth inning. Ramsey Fry went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Danny Stephens went 3 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Owen Rigg and Kyle O’Neal each had two hits for the Suns, while Griffin Tippey allowed one run and two hits over four innings to earn the win. He struck out six.

At Havana, Ill.
Havana 4, Brown County 1: The Hornets suffered their first loss of the season as the Ducks used two pitchers to limit Brown County to just two hits. The Hornets didn’t score until Cortni Law jacked a solo home run in the seventh inning. Makenna Post allowed four runs — two earned — and five hits, while striking out four and walking four to suffer the loss. Savannah Rogers had a single for Brown County’s only other hit. The Hornets are 26-1 overall.
At Pleasant Hill, Ill.
Pleasant Hill 14, Liberty 0: The Wolves’ Ava Wombles struck out 11 and allowed two hits over five innings to earn the victory. Hannah Hill went 4 for 4 with three runs scored for Pleasant Hill, while Kali VanStrien, Harlee DeCamp and Wombles each had three hits. The Wolves finished with 18 hits overall. Madi Tritsch and Larissa Neisen each had a single for Liberty.
