Hannibal Triangular: The Pirates opened their season with a pair of duals, beating Warrenton 37-27 before losing to Jefferson City Helias 55-16.
Against Warrenton, the Pirates’ Tristen Essig (113 pounds) and Nathan Messina (152) both won by pinfall. Sophomore Reign Creech scored an 11-0 major decision at 106, while freshman Lucas Hudson won 9-3 at 160.
Against Helias, Pirates sophomore Cody Culp won by pinfall at 126, while Trevor Wilson (170), Essig and Creech each won by decision.

MidAmerica Nazarene 73, Culver-Stockton College 41: The Wildcats scored just 13 points in the first half, shooting 18.2 percent from the field without a made 3-pointer in their Heart of America Athletic Conference opener. Overall, C-SC went 1 of 11 from 3-point range and shot 25.8 percent overall. Taylor Green led the Wildcats with 11 points. C-SC is 6-3 overall.

Southeastern 48, Rushville-Industry 36: Junior all-state swingman Danny Stephens suffered a dislocated thumb in warmups and didn’t play for the Suns, but Ramsey Fry made it a non-issue as he scored a game-high 24 points.
