At the Pit, Quincy
Quincy Notre Dame d. Hannibal: The Raiders bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 25-21, 26-24 victory. Sophomore outside hitter Emma Hoing led QND with eight kills, while Abbey Schreacke and Avery Keck each had five. Annie Eaton dished out 23 assists, and Faith Kientzle had nine digs and two aces as the Raiders improved to 14-1. Bella Falconer led the Pirates with five kills and 10 digs, while Kate Maune had six digs, four kills and three aces.
At Mount Sterling, Ill.
Unity d. Brown County: The Mustangs picked up a 25-22, 19-25, 25-15 victory as Kylee Barry piled up 12 kills, Kyra Carothers and Brooklyn Stiefel had seven kills apiece, and Taylor Nichols dished out 26 assists. Katey Flynn led the Hornets with 11 kills, 15 digs and an ace, while Klare Flynn had nine kills and three blocks, Gabby McGath had 24 assists and Kaci McKeon had 18 digs.
At Liberty, Ill.
Liberty d. Pleasant Hill: The Eagles won 25-22, 25-12 as Kenley Kurfman had 13 digs.
Women’s Volleyball
At Ruble Arena, Mount Pleasant, Iowa
Culver-Stockton College d. Iowa Wesleyan: The Wildcats, who played without their two starting outside hitters, captured a 25-14, 25-21, 25-15 victory in their final non-conference match of the season. Freshman middle hitter Ashleigh Brawley led the Wildcats with 11 kills, while freshman Sarah Wells had nine assists and senior Alyssa Baltimore recorded four aces. C-SC is 5-10 overall.
Boys Soccer
At Flinn Stadium, Quincy
Quincy High School 5, Galesburg 2: The Blue Devils improved to 4-0 in Western Big 6 Conference play. Boen Brockmiller scored twice for Quincy, while Carter Venvertloh, Jackson Richmiller and Evan Sohn each added a goal. Evan Altman had two assists, while Biruk Rosen, Brockmiller and Richmiller each set up a goal. The Blue Devils are 6-3-2 overall.
Men’s Soccer
At the Frontyard, Quincy
John Wood Community College 4, Kankakee Community College 2: Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Fenton Scott scored less than a minute into the second half to jumpstart the Trail Blazers’ offense.Adam Naim scored twice, including converting a penalty kick for the game-winning goal.
At Ellison Poulton Stadium, Canton, Mo.
Mount Mercy 1, Culver-Stockton College 0: The Mustangs scored in the 58th minute to pick up the Heart of America Athletic Conference victory. Wildcats goalkeeper Jack Gibson made 10 saves. C-SC is 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the Heart.
Women’s Soccer
At the Frontyard, Quincy
John Wood Community College 3, Kankakee Community College 0: Alexis Miranda and Madison Meyer took turns helping each other out. Miranda scored in the 20th minute off a Meyer assist, while Meyer scored in the 49th minute off a Miranda assist. Madison Lutz scored the Trail Blazers’ third goal off a Genesis Fu assist. JWCC is 4-3 overall.
At Ellison Poulton Stadium, Canton, Mo.
Culver-Stockton College 1, Mount Mercy 0: Angela Lloret scored with two minutes remaining in the first overtime as the Wildcats won their first Heart of America Athletic Conference game. The Wildcats attempted 30 shots with 12 on goal before finally breaking through. Trinity Register made five saves to earn the shutout. C-SC is 5-3 overall and a 1-2 in the Heart.
Girls Golf
At Kirksville Country Club, Kirksville, Mo.
Kirksville Invitational: Quincy Notre Dame won the team championship with a 367 in the nine-team event, while Palmyra finished third with a 385 and Hannibal was fifth with a 435. The Raiders’ Hana Knuffman earned medalist honors with a 77, winning a tiebreaker with Southern Boone’s Lily Frazier. QND’s Blair Eftink tied for eighth with a 92, while Palmyra’s Mallory Comstock and Mallory Sublette tied for 10th with 95s.
Girls Tennis
At Hannibal, Mo.
Quincy High School 6, Hannibal 3: Holding a 4-2 lead after singles play, the Blue Devils won the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches to win the dual. QHS’s Phoebe and Lily Hayes beat Emma Haner and Gracie Martin 8-1 at No. 1, while the Blue Devils’ Audra Cain and Amelia Willing beat Brooklyn Haye and Trinity Sutton 8-4 at No. 2.
At Palmyra, Mo.
Palmyra 9, Kirksville 0: Katy Rindom and Molly Gottman won tiebreakers in the their singles matches, propelling the Panthers to the sweep. At No. 1 singles, Rindom beat the Tigers’ Gracie Riemenschneider 9-8 with a 7-2 advantage in the tiebreaker. At No. 3 singles, Gottman beat Kirksville’s Madisynn Crawford 9-8 with a 7-4 advantage in the tiebreaker. Gottman and Jaynee Durst won their No. 2 doubles match 9-7.
