Duchesne 3, Hannibal 1: The Pirates’ record-setting season ended in the district semifinals. Freshman midfielder Abbie Martin scored off a Katie Greening assist for Hannibal’s lone goal. The Pirates finish with a 21-5 record, the most victories in program history.

Fort Zumwalt East 5, Hannibal 1: The fourth-seeded Pirates’ record-setting season abruptly ended in the district semifinals as the top-seeded Lions scored three times in the fourth inning and tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Hannibal grabbed the lead out of the gate as Keaton Scott led off with a walk, took second on a passed ball and scored on Kane Wilson’s RBI single. It stayed 1-0 until the fourth when the Lions’ Jackson Penn cleared the bases with a one-out double for a 3-1 lead. A solo home run in the fifth and an RBI single in the sixth gave Fort Zumwalt East an insurmountable lead. Tanner VanWinkle took the loss despite allowing only five hits. He struck out one. The Pirates end their season with a 19-12 record, breaking the program’s single-season record for victories.

Class 1A Brown County Regional
Brown County 15, Winchester West Central 0: An 11-run third inning allowed the top-seeded Hornets to end their regional semifinal victory in four innings. Leading 2-0 going into the third, the Hornets got the big inning going as Ashlee Markert led off with a home run. After a bases loaded walk forced in a run, Klare Flynn delivered a two-run single. Another bases loaded walk made it 7-0, and Markert’s RBI single pushed it to 8-0. Cyrah Dunlap followed with a bases-clearing double. Grace Groesch and Katey Flynn delivered RBI singles to cap the frame. Markert and Groesch both went 3 for 3 as the Hornets piled up 17 hits. Taryn Moorman allowed just three hits and struck out three to earn the victory. Brown County (28-1) will play for a regional championship at 2 p.m. Saturday against either Payson Seymour or Western.
