At Advance Physical Therapy Field, Quincy
Quincy Notre Dame 8, Williamsville 0: The Raiders scored six goals in the first half and invoked the mercy rule in the second half. Freshman forward Annie Eaton recorded her first career hat trick, scoring the first three QND goals. Junior forward Lia Quintero scored the next three goals. In the second half, freshman Sage Stratton and junior Haley Mayer each scored their first career goals. QND is 2-0.
Prep baseball
At Jacksonville, Ill.
Jacksonville Routt 11, Central 1: The Rockets scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning to hand the Panthers consecutive losses. Keaton Dickhut had two of the Panthers’ five hits as Central fell to 1-2.
Prep softball
At Mount Sterling, Ill.
Brown County 15, Quincy High School 9: An eight-run second inning gave the Hornets enough cushion to withstand allowing seven runs in the fifth inning and earn the season-opening victory. Cortni Law went 4 for 4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs for the Hornets, while Savannah Rogers went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Ashlee Markert also went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. The Blue Devils trailed 11-0 before the seven-run fifth inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing double by Sofi Sangrey.
College softball
At Himsl Field, Canton, Mo.
Culver-Stockton College 3, Williams Woods 2: After allowing a two-run home run and losing the lead in the top of the sixth, the Wildcats responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame to win the first game of the doubleheader. An RBI triple by Alle Thompson and a run-scoring single by Chloe Turner gave C-SC the lead. Turner went 3 for 3.
Culver-Stockton College 4, William Woods 1: The Wildcats trailed 1-0 in the nightcap of the doubleheader until a four-run outburst in the sixth inning. A two-out, two-run double from Baylee Schneider gave the Wildcats the lead, and Brown followed with an RBI single. Andrea Belme, Tara Mackey and Schneider each had two hits for the Wildcats, who improved to 4-4.
Women’s lacrosse
At QU Stadium, Quincy
Quincy University 15, Culver-Stockton 3: The Hawks scored six goals in the second quarter to build a 9-1 lead and improve to 3-4 overall. Danielle Robinson led the Hawks with four goals and an assist, while Josephina Szmanda had three goals on three shots. QU goalie Kelly McClure made nine saves. C-SC is now 2-3.
