Lindenwood 69, Quincy University 60: The Hawks’ struggles offensively through the first three quarters led to the Great Lakes Valley Conference loss. Quincy shot 33.3 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from 3-point range in the first 30 minutes, resulting in a 55-32 deficit. The Hawks (1-6, 0-2 GLVC) piled up 28 points in the fourth quarter as Regan Loconte scored a career-high 23 points off the bench. She was 4 of 8 from 3-point range and 5 of 5 from the line in 33 minutes. The QU starting five combined for just 20 points. Lindenwood’s Julia Ruzevich, a former QU player, finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Girls Basketball
At QHS gym, Quincy
Quincy High School 40, Rock Island Alleman 27: The Blue Devils held the Pioneers without a field goal and to just one point in the fourth quarter, cementing the Western Big 6 Conference victory with a stout defensive effort. QHS allowed just eight second-half points. Sophomore forward Taylor Fohey was dominant in the post for the Blue Devils, scoring a game-high 22 points. She made three field goals in each of the first three quarters. The Blue Devils are 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the WB6.
At the Pit, Quincy
Quincy Notre Dame 83, West Hancock 31: The Raiders, ranked second in the Class 2A state poll, made quick work of their second West Central Conference victory. Blair Eftink scored a game-high 26 points, while Abbey Schreacke finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds. QND is 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the WCC.
At Carthage, Ill.
Illini West 75, Rushville-Industry 12: Cadee Kirkham scored 12 of her game-high 19 points in the first quarter as the Chargers built a 29-4 lead. Illini West led 48-9 at halftime. Reagan Reed added 15 points and Marie DeSotel had 12 points as the Chargers improved to 6-1.
At Augusta, Ill.
Central-Southeastern41, Macomb 34: The Panthers limited the Bombers to just three points in the fourth quarter, while scoring four of their final six points at the free-throw line to secure the victory. Amanda Stephens led the Panthers with 10 points.
At Biggsville, Ill.
Unity 63, Biggsville West Central 30: The Mustangs, ranked fourth in Class 1A, improved to 7-0 with the road victory. Brooklyn Stiefel led Unity with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
At Ewing, Mo.
Highland 46, Liberty 14: A 15-3 spurt in the third quarter, highlighted by Ansley Bringer’s nine points, allowed the Cougars to put this one away. Bringer finished with 22 points. Cora Schuette led the Eagles with six points.
Boys Basketball
At Ewing, Mo.
Liberty 69, Highland 68: Logan Robbins scored 20 points to help the Eagles, ranked seventh in Class 1A, survive a trip across the Mississippi River.
