At Legends Stadium, Quincy
Quincy University 4, Maryville 3: Aliyah Rottger scored with 36 seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift the Hawks to the Great Lakes Valley Conference victory. Rottger’s goal came off a give-and-go with Jessica Felix, who fed Rottger as she split two defenders and then laced a shot from left to right into the far side of the net.
The Hawks built a 2-0 lead early as Morgan Evans scored in the 11th minute off a Paige Anderson assist and Lauren Crane scored in the 19th minute off a Rottger assist. The Saints tied it by halftime, only to have Crane convert a penalty kick in the 55th minute. However, Quincy conceded a goal in the 82nd minute, which forced overtime.
Maryville outshot Quincy 12-8 and owned a 9-6 edge in shots on goal, but Hawks goalkeeper Luisa Weinhaendler made six saves. The Hawks are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in league play.
Men’s Soccer
At Legends Stadium, Quincy
Maryville 3, Quincy University 2: For the third time in six games, the Hawks allowed three or more goals as the Saints scored twice in a three-minute span of the second half to erase a one-goal deficit. Quincy trailed 1-0 at halftime, but Cole Hayes scored off assists from Alex Lehmann and Nick Chapman less than two minutes into the second half to tie the game.
Alsadiq Hasan set up Jack Rhead for the go-ahead goal less than two minutes later. However, the Saints answered with goals in the 62nd and 64th minutes. Maryville outshot Quincy 10-8 overall and 6-3 on goal. Quincy falls to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the GLVC.
