At Danville, Ill.

Danville 9, John Wood Community College 3: Trailing 4-0 through three innings, the Trail Blazers clawed within 4-3 heading to the bottom of the sixth, only to see the Jaguars score four times and win the first game of the Mid-West Athletic Conference doubleheader. Dalen Banks drove in two runs for the Trail Blazers, who were limited to four hits.

John Wood Community College 5, Danville 1: Trail Blazers left-hander Ryan Foley tossed a complete-game two-hitter in the nightcap of the MWAC twinbill Foley allowed one run, struck out eight and walked three. The Trail Blazers got back-to-back RBI singles from Tyler Bickers and Lucas Loss in the third inning to take the lead. Ryan Camerer added an RBI single in the two-run sixth.

College softball

At Mart Heinen Softball Complex, Quincy

Southern Indiana 8, Quincy University 0: The Hawks were limited to two hits in the Great Lakes Valley Conference loss. Screaming Eagles pitcher Alle Goodin struck out four and walked two, while also going 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs.

Southern Indiana 5, Quincy University 3: The Hawks led 3-2 heading to the seventh inning, but they surrendered three runs to get swept. Taylor Downen hit a two-run home run in the third inning, and two batters later, Bailey Mitchell hit a solo home run to give the Hawks the lead. The Screaming Eagles’ Lexi Fair hit a three-run homer with one out in the seventh.

At Himsl Field, Canton, Mo.

Park University 7, Culver-Stockton College 1: The Wildcats trailed 3-1 going to the seventh inning, only to see the Pirates score four times to put the Heart of America Athletic Conference victory away. Hannah Menefee went 2 for 3 for C-SC, while Alle Thompson drove in the Wildcats’ lone run.

Culver-Stockton College 4, Park University 3: A three-run fifth inning gave the Wildcats the lead, and they survived a shaky seventh inning to split the doubleheader. A two-out error allowed Park to score twice in the seventh and put the tying run on third base, but C-SC’s Makayla Slavik struck out the final batter to end the game. Alle Thompson went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for the Wildcats.

Women’s lacrosse

At Berkel Stadium, Leavenworth, Kan.

Culver-Stockton College 19, Saint Mary 8: Leading 7-4 at halftime, the Wildcats scored 12 goals in the second half to earn the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference victory. Melanie Sanchez had five goals for the Wildcats, while Sopheea Vomund and McKayla Nevarez each had four goals.
