Southern Indiana 6, Quincy University 4: The Screaming Eagles capitalized on a walk, an error and a hit batter to open the eighth inning by scoring three times and then squashing the Hawks’ ninth inning rally to earn a split in the Great Lakes Valley Conference series. Trailing 6-3 heading to the ninth, the Hawks got back-to-back doubles from Kade Burns and Zach Parks to plate one run and a walk to Dayson Croes put the tying run on base. However, a strikeout and a flyout ended the game. Burns finished 2 for 4 as the Hawks were limited to seven hits. Jay Hammel suffered the loss, striking out nine and walking one while allowing four earned runs. The Hawks are 14-12 overall and 5-3 in the GLVC.

At QU Stadium, Quincy

Culver-Stockton College 11, Graceland 4: The Wildcats built a 5-1 lead through three innings and used a six-run fifth inning to put away the victory in the first game of a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader. Alex Harbin went 2 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs for C-SC, while Andrew Fay went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs. Daniel Hargrave worked all seven innings, allowing four runs and nine hits with three strikeouts and one walk to earn the victory.

Culver-Stockton College 6, Graceland 4: Trailing 4-1, the Wildcats rallied with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to sweep the Heart twinbill. In the fifth, Collin Hall and Alex Harbin had back-to-back RBI singles, and in the sixth, an RBI groundout tied the game before Ronald Applewhite delivered a go-ahead, two-run single. Jordan Isham struck out two of the three batters he faced in the seventh to earn the save. Stefan Stockwell allowed one run over five innings of relief to earn the victory. He struck out five and walked one. The Wildcats are 9-19 overall and 3-11 in the Heart.

At Romeoville, ill.

Lewis 5, Quincy University 4: The Flyers scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 4 and won the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener in the bottom of the 10th on a one-out RBI single. The Hawks scored three times in the third, highlighted by Allyson Maynard’s RBI double and Madeline Ruzicka’s RBI single, and took the lead in the fourth when Taylor Dowden drove in a run with a fielder’s choice groundout. Maynard, Ruzicka and Casey Brennan each had two hits for the Hawks. Jayle Jennings suffered the loss, allowing one run in 1 ⅓ innings of relief.

Lewis 12, Quincy University 8: The Flyers plated six runs in the first inning and scored in each of the first four innings to sweep the Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader. The Hawks got within 10-8 after scoring three times in the fourth, only to surrender two runs in the bottom of the frame. Madeline Ruzicka went 3 for 4 for the Hawks, while Bailey Mitchell went 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Casey Brennan added a three-run home run. The Hawks are 9-24 overall and 3-13 in the GLVC.

At Ravens Field, Atchison, Kan.

Culver-Stockton College 2, Benedictine 0: The Wildcats opened the Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader with Baylee Schneider hitting a two-run home run in the second inning and Emma Roseberry tossing a one-hit shutout. C-SC managed just four hits, but Roseberry limited the Ravens to just a leadoff double in the fourth inning. She struck out four and walked one.

Culver-Stockton College 4, Benedictine 2: A three-run second inning propelled the Wildcats to the Heart sweep. Three consecutive doubles with two outs by Baylee Schneider, Aubrey Feiden and Madison Covey plated two runs in the second, and Andrea Belme drove in the other with a single. Feiden went 3 for 3 and Calisa Steel went 2 for 4 for C-SC. Makayla Slavik earned the victory, striking out one, walking none and allowing seven hits over seven innings. The Wildcats are 11-9 overall and 7-9 in the Heart. 

At JWCC Field, Quincy

John Wood Community College 7, Lewis & Clark 6: JWCC trailed 6-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning before rallying for seven runs to take the first game of the doubleheader. Emma Plameier went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in the winning run, while Mahalia Lewis had a two-run triple in the seventh and Baylie Combs had a two-run double in the seventh. Kaitlynn Spain earned the victory, striking out three and walking one.

John Wood Community College 10, Lewis & Clark 2: JWCC collected nine hits in completing the doubleheader sweep. Taylor Simms went 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBIs, while Kallie Harris went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Lauren Merrell earned the victory, allowing no earned runs while striking out five over five innings. JWCC is 6-16 overall.
