College Cross Country
At Viking Invitational, Grand View University, Des Moines, Iowa
The Culver-Stockton College men’s cross country team only had three runners competing. Josh French was the top finisher for the Wildcats, ending the 8-kilometer run with a time of 32:21.70 to place 77th. Blake Thompson finished 89th with a time of 36:11.51, while Jared St. Juliana was 90th with a time of 36:42.46.
College Women’s Volleyball
At Pepsi Arena, Quincy
Quincy University avenged a season-ending loss last year to Missouri S&T with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-21 victory. Emily Rehagen had 13 kills, and Emma Wijnbergen recorded 10. Mattie Norris had eight kills and Sarah Brown tallied seven kills from the middle. QU held the Miners’ offense to a .113 hitting percentage. Norris tallied 21 digs, Rehagen had 13 and Kailey Owsley and America Galvan had a dozen each.
At Kankakee
John Wood Community College split a pair of matches, losing 16-25, 18-25, 14-25 to Harper College and defeating Kankakee Community College 17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-20. Paige Knuffman had 27 kills, 22 digs and five service aces for the Trailblazers. Erica Simmonds had 13 kills and five blocks. Belinda Torres had 31 digs.
College Women’s Soccer
At Springfield
McKenna Little’s goal allowed John Wood Community College to escape with a 1-1 double overtime tie. Goalkeeper Maddie Hill made 11 saves for the Trailblazers.
Prep Football
At Camp Point, Ill.
Central scored the first points of the game on safety by Isaac Genenbacher and rolled to a 48-6 victory over Jacksonville Routt in a Western Illinois Valley Conference game. Gengenbacher had an 88-yard touchdown run that helped the Panthers lead 34-0 at halftime.
Prep Cross Country
At Monmouth
The Quincy Notre Dame boys claimed first place at the Titan Invitational despite having just one runner place in the top eight. Freshman Joe Warning place fourth with a time of 18:32.9. Evan Hirstius (ninth), Logan Sutton (11th), Austin Haskins (14th) and Tristan Pritts (17th) earned points for the Raiders, whose 55 points were two better than Mercer County and three better than Princeville.
The QND girls took second, scoring 52 points to trail Mercer County (32). Teresa Drotar finished in 21:48.2 to place fourth. Makayla Patton, Abigail Genenbacher and Natalie Farah took eighth, ninth and 10th place for the Raiders.
At St. Joseph Ogden
Liberty’s Cannen Wolf took fifth place at the St. Joseph Ogden Running Spartan Classic.
Prep Boys Soccer
At Marshall, Mo.
Marshall scored on a penalty kick in the second overtime to defeat Hannibal 1-0 in a North Central Missouri Conference game. The Pirates’ record now is 8-4, 4-1 in league play.
At Festus, Mo.
Dalton Berhorst scored twice to help Canton record a 2-2 tie against Festus.
At Chatham, Ill.
Jackson Richmiller scored the game-winning goal for Quincy High School in a 1-0 victory over Rochester during the Titan Friendlies. Grayson Cook earned the shutout in goal. Biruk Rosen earned the assist on the goal for the Blue Devils (8-3-3).

At Monmouth
Quincy High School cruised to the girls championship of the Streaks Invitational at Gibson Woods, posting a 313 to easily outdistance Macomb (368) and Geneseo (369). Sophia Gold and Laci Novosel shot 75s to tie for second, with Saya Geisendorfer shooting an 80 for seventh place and Paige Cain carding an 83 for eighth place.
The Quincy High School boys placed third with a 316, and Quincy Notre Dame finished fourth, shooting a 326. Ross Thompson finished ninth for the Raiders with a 79. Zane Douglas and Konnor Craven tied for 10th with 80s.
Prep Softball
At Paris, Mo.
Canton’s Kenzie Guilfoyle struck out 12, pitched a shutout and had an RBI single in a 1-0 victory over North Shelby in the championship game of the Paris Tournament.
At Louisiana, Mo.
Monroe City took third place in the Bulldog Classic, defeating Paris, Mo., 10-0. Carly Youngblood had two hits, including a home run, and drive in three runs. The Panthers suffered a 7-4 extra-innings loss to Elsberry in the semifinals.
