Prep Cross Country

At Uhland Acres, Liberty, Ill.

Liberty Invitational: Quincy High School had three of the top four runners and dominated the girls race, while West Hancock senior Miles Sheppard broke the 15-minute mark to win the individual title of the boys race.

The Blue Devils’ Anna Schuering finished in 18 minutes, 47.2 seconds to win the girls race, while Olivia Schuering was third in 20:24.3 and Alexandria Meyers was fourth in 20:35.4. Quincy Notre Dame senior Teresa Drotar finished sixth in 21:05.9, while Liberty’s Arianna Neisen was seventh in 21:06.8.

Sheppard blistered the course in 14:54.6, while Liberty’s Cannen Wolf took second in 16:10.6. QHS’s Ayden Triplett was sixth (17:06.2) and Eric McClelland took seventh (17:30.7). QND freshman Joe Warning came in 10th (17:34.6).

At American Legion Golf Course, Hannibal, Mo.

Frank Lemons Invitational: The Hannibal boys won the team title with four runners placing in the top six. The Pirates’ Cameron Nichols finished second in 17:50.5, followed by Eli Hess in third (18:22.9), Reign Creech in fifth (18:38.7) and David Munger in sixth (18:51.5). Monroe City’s Jackson Wheeler was 10th in 19:03.7.

On the girls side, Monroe City’s Emmalee Williams finished second in 20:48.7, while Hannibal’s Jacelyn Dorsey was fourth (21:56.1) and Monroe City’s Ella Hays took fifth (22:09.5). Clark County’s Grace Buschling won the event in 20:25.8

At Quincy

Parkland 3, John Wood Community College 1: The Trail Blazers trailed the No. 4 team in the nation by two goals at halftime, but got a Blake Ryan goal in the second half to make things interesting.

At Ellison Poulton Stadium, Canton, Mo.

Grand View 7, Culver-Stockton College 0: The Wildcats were outshot 19-2 overall and didn’t put a shot on goal in the Heart of America Athletic Conference loss. C-SC fell to 3-9-0 overall and 1-6 in the Heart.

Women’s Soccer

At Quincy

John Wood Community College 2, Parkland 2: The Trail Blazers received goals from Madison Meyer and McKenna Little to salvage a tie in MidWest Athletic Conference action. Meyer scored off an Alexis Miranda assist, while Little scored off a Madison Lutz assist. JWCC is 4-6-2 overall.

At Ellison Poulton Stadium, Canton, Mo.

Culver-Stockton College 0, Grand View 0: The Wildcats outshot the Vikings 14-7 overall and owned an 8-1 edge in corner kicks, but they settled for a draw in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. C-SC is now 8-3-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Heart.

Women’s Volleyball

At Pershing Arena, Kirksville, Mo.

Quincy University d. Truman State: The Hawks attacked at a .274 clip and swept the Bulldogs 26-24, 25-8, 26-24 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. Emily Rehagen and Emma Wijnbergen had 18 kills apiece for the Hawks, while Makayla Knoblauch had 39 assists and 10 digs. The Hawks are 8-10 overall and 5-5 in the GLVC.

At Student Activity Center, Quincy

Rend Lake d. John Wood Community College: Belinda Torres had 26 digs, but the Trail Blazers’ defense wasn’t enough to avoid a 25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21 loss. Paige Knuffman had 14 kills and 13 digs, while Leanne Blue and Laura Johnson had 13 kills apiece. JWCC is 13-10 overall.

At Charles Field House, Canton, Mo.

MidAmerica Nazarene d. Culver-Stockton College: A negative attack percentage in the first two sets spelled doom for the Wildcats, who lost the Heart of America Athletic Conference match 25-16, 25-21, 22-25, 25-12. Madison McClain led the Wildcats with nine kills. C-SC is 7-14 overall and 3-7 in the Heart.
