Girls Volleyball
At Korf Gym, Hannibal, Mo.
Class 4 District 8: Top-seeded Hannibal advanced to the district championship match with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-16 victory over Fulton. Bella Falconer led the Pirates with 25 kills, while Ashlyn Hess had 22 assists and Nora Hark had five kills and 12 assists. Hannibal will face second-seeded Warrenton at 6 p.m. Monday in the title match.
College Football
At Dalzell Field, Dubuque, Iowa
Culver-Stockton College 17, Clarke 6: The Wildcats overcame committing five turnovers to post the victory in the Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division and move a step closer to tying the single-season school record for victories. The Wildcats are 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the Heart North and will tie the 1969 team’s record with their next victory.
After trailing 6-0, C-SC took the lead in the second quarter when Connor Perrine hauled in a 66-yard touchdown pass from Cody Thorne. Michael Velasco’s 31-yard field goal gave the Wildcats a 10-6 halftime lead. Jordan Grant punctuated the victory with a 22-yard touchdown run in the first minute of the fourth quarter.
Grant rushed for 135 yards on 22 carries, while Perrine caught for passes for 130 yards. Dalton Huffman led the C-SC defense with 12 tackles and three tackles for loss as the Wildcats limited the Pride to 177 total yards.
Women’s Volleyball
At Kansas City, Mo.
Rockhurst d. Quincy University: Quincy had a five-match in streak snapped as Rockhurst swept the Great Lakes Valley Conference match 25-21, 25-21, 27-25. Emily Rehagen led Quincy with 16 kills, while Emma Wijnbergen added 11 kills. Makayla Knoblauch had 42 assists. Quincy is 12-11 overall and 6-6 in the GLVC.
At Charles Field House, Canton, Mo.
Culver-Stockton College d. Missouri Valley College: Heleine Felipe recorded a career-high 17 kills as the Wildcats picked up a 25-14, 22-25, 25-18, 25-20 victory in Heart of America Athletic Conference action. Madison McClain added nine kills and 19 digs for C-SC. The Wildcats are 9-17 overall and 5-10 in the Heart.
Men’s Soccer
At Pioneer Field, Olathe, Kan.
MidAmerica Nazarene 4, Culver-Stockton College 0: The Wildcats were outshot 16-4 by the No. 18 Pioneers, who scored twice in each half. C-SC falls to 4-11 overall and 2-8 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
