Quincy University d. Lindenwood: The Hawks capped a strong run to end the regular season and secure a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament with a 25-15, 24-26, 25-18, 21-25, 15-13 victory. Quincy will be the fifth seed in the postseason conference tournament, opening at 2:30 p.m. Friday against fourth-seeded Missouri S&T.
Emily Rehagen led the Hawks with 17 kills and 18 digs, while Makayla Knoblauch had 43 assists and 19 digs. America Galvan finished with 25 digs, while Emma Winjbergen had 12 kills and Elizabeth Lightner had 11 kills. The Hawks (17-12, 11-7 GLVC) head into the postseason having won four consecutive matches and 10 of their last 12.
Women’s Basketball
At Seidman Gymnasium, Pepper Pike, Ohio
Wisconsin-Parkside 59, Quincy University 57: After leading a majority of the game, the Hawks managed just 10 points in the fourth quarter and saw the Pioneers take control in the final three minutes. Marta Rivera’s basket in the paint with 1:08 remaining made it a two-point game, and the Hawks made back-to-back defensive stops to gain possession with 13 seconds remaining. Beth Matas Martin’s jumper with six seconds remaining missed the mark, resulting in the narrow loss.
Martin led the Hawks with 14 points, while Grace Flanagan had 11 points and Sarah Nelson finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. The Hawks (0-2) committed 21 turnovers and made just eight field goals in the second half.
