At Pittsfield, Ill.
Pittsfield 10, Calhoun 1: The Saukees scored seven runs in the third inning and had no trouble finishing off the victory in the first game of the doubleheader. The Saukees had four RBI singles and a run-scoring double in the inning. Nate Scranton went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, while Brennan Tomhave, Justin Pennock and Luke Saxe each had two hits. Scranton struck out seven and allowed one hit over four innings to earn the victory.
Pittsfield 8, Calhoun 1: Konnor Allen struck out nine in five scoreless innings, allowing just four hits as the Saukees completed the sweep. Pittsfield scored three runs in each of the first two innings, highlighted by three consecutive singles to start the game and Nolan Daniel’s RBI double in the second inning. Caden Casto went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, while Nate Scranton, Daniel and Allen each had two hits. The Saukees improved to 8-1.
At Palmyra, Ill.
Greenfield/Northwestern 11, Central 8: The Tigers scored in each of the first five innings, and the Panthers couldn’t fully overcome an early deficit despite belting four home runs. Conner Griffin went 2 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs, while Mason Miller went 2 for 3 with a home run and Mitchel Meier smacked a solo home run. Three Central pitchers combined to allow 11 runs and 11 hits with seven walks.

At QU Stadium, Quincy
Parkland 11-12, John Wood Community College 1-10: The Trail Blazers dropped both ends of the Mid-West Athletic Conference doubleheader because of an inability to consistently throw strikes and by allowing too many walks. Lucas Loos had three hits, Tyler Bickers had a home run and a triple and Walker Mann’s RBI groundout in the sixth inning of the second game forced extra innings.
College softball
At Cavaness Field, Baldwin City, Kan.
Baker 3, Culver-Stockton College 2: Baker scored twice in the first inning and again in the second and never surrendered the lead. C-SC center fielder Andrea Belme went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored as C-SC was limited to just five hits in the first game of the Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader.
Culver-Stockton College 3, Baker 1: A three-run sixth inning highlighted by Taryn Brown’s two-run double propelled C-SC to the conference twinbill split. Six different players had a single hit apiece for C-SC, while Makayla Slavik allowed one unearned run and four hits over seven innings with one strikeout and two walks to earn the victory. C-SC is 9-9 overall and 5-9 in the Heart.
Men’s lacrosse
At QU Stadium, Quincy
Maryville 8, Quincy University 3: The Hawks allowed four goals in the fourth quarter to drop the Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup. The Saints outshot the Hawks 51-20, forcing goalkeeper Ryan Riggs to make 24 saves. Jayme Brain, Preston Willman and Nick Woodworth scored for the Hawks, who are 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the GLVC.
Men’s volleyball
At Pepsi Arena, Quincy
Loyola Chicago d. Quincy University: The Hawks suffered their fifth straight straight-sets loss in Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play, losing 25-19, 25-23, 25-14. The Hawks have won just two sets in 12 MIVA matches this season. Nathan Lawton had 14 kills and Jonas Holzinger had 24 assists for the Hawks, who fell to 4-16 overall and 0-12 in the MIVA.
