College Tennis

At Allendale, Mich.

The Quincy University men competed in the Midwest ITA Regional at Grand Valley State during the weekend. Nearly every Division II men’s program in the region was in attendance. 

Quincy’s Zach Willing made it to the men’s singles C-Draw consolation final before falling in the final match, 6-2, 6-3. Ivan Mimica made a deep run in the men’s singles main C-Draw. Mimica picked up a victory on Friday and Saturday morning before being knocked out on Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinal round. 

The pairing of Samuele Contestabile and Sebastian Gomez played in the men’s doubles B-Draw semifinal, where they lost 8-2.

College Soccer

At Bettendorf, Iowa

Tristen Terrill and Blake Ryan scored goals for John Wood Community College in a 2-0 victory over Scott Community College.

Prep Softball

At Ewing, Mo.

Palmyra 10, Highland 0: Abby Reed had quite the offensive day with four hits, five runs batted in and three runs scored. Bella McBride had three hits and scored three runs for the Panthers (10-4), and Alaina Loman had three RBIs. Palmyra pitcher Jozlyn Gottman struck out 11 batters in six innings, allowing just one hit and two walks. Highland dropped to 7-12.

At Moberly, Mo.

Moberly 4, Hannibal 1: The Pirates’ only run came on a sixth-inning single by Emilee Wilson, but they were limited to three hits in a North Central Missouri Conference game. 

At Canton, Mo.

Canton 4, Clark County 3: Kenzie Guilfoyle hit two doubles for the Tigers, and she also was the winning pitcher. 

Prep Cross Country

At Elsberry, Mo.

Highland’s Kaycie Stahl finished in ninth place at the Elsberry Invitational. Alexis Vaughn finished 12th, and Carlie Davis was 19th.

Prep Golf

At Camp Point, Ill.

QND’s Hana Knuffman shot an 87 to claim the championship of the West Central Conference girls tournament at Arrowhead Heights, and the Raiders shot a 397 to capture the team title. West Hancock’s Bliss Martin shot a 96 to place second, one stroke ahead of Central’s Haley Cramer, Rushville’s Kate Phillips and QND’s Olivia Hummel tied for fourth with 98s.

At Advance Physical Therapy Field

Colin Kurk and Jake Schisler scored their first varsity goals as Quincy Notre Dame rolled to a 9-0 victory over Macomb. Tanner Anderson scored the first goal and assisted on the next two.

Prep Volleyball

Unity def. West Prairie 25-22, 25-21: Kyra Carothers had 14 kills for the Mustangs.

Illini West def. Liberty 25-13, 25-17: Josie Bryan with 10 kills for the Chargers. Caydee Kirkham with 14 assists and six digs, Kaelyn Ferrill with seven digs.

QND def. Central 25-22, 25-16

Brown County def. Payson Seymour 25-13, 25-20
