At Pittsfield, Ill.

Pittsfield 10, Carrollton 0: The Saukees’ Nate Scranton allowed four hits over six innings and earned his first victory of the season with the shutout. He struck out six. Pittsfield’s Caden Casto went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs, while Cole Walston went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

At Beardstown, Ill.

Beardstown 11, Central 1: The Tigers scored six runs in the final two at-bats to finish off the six-inning victory. Conner Griffin went 2 for 2 with a double and a run scored for the Panthers, while Brydon Allison had an RBI single.

At Augusta, Ill.

North Fulton 12, Southeastern 10: The Wildcats scored six runs in the top of the seventh to pull out the victory. The Suns built a 10-6 lead on the strength of six hits, six walks and three North Fulton errors. However, the Wildcats scored five runs with one out in the seventh, scoring two runs on an error, another on a bases-loaded walk and one on a wild pitch. Kyle O’Neal hit a grand slam to give the Suns the lead in the fourth inning.

At Camp Point, Ill.

Central 10, Southeastern 0: The Panthers’ Katie Hildebrand allowed one hit over five innings and was backed by an offense that scored five runs in the first inning of the season opener. Hildebrand struck out five and walked two. Griswald’s double was the Suns’ only hit. The Panthers’ Libby Ippensen went 2 for 3 with a triple, a home run and two RBIs, while Karlee Marlow went 2 for 3.

At Mount Sterling, Ill.

Brown County 13, Illini West 0: A nine-run fourth inning allowed the Hornets to invoke the 10-run rule and win their second consecutive game to open the season. Makenna Post allowed two hits over five innings for the Hornets, while striking out five and walking two. Karsyn Moorman went 2 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs, while Katey Flynn went 2 for 4 with three runs scored.

At Bogey Hills Country Club, St. Charles, Mo.

Bogey Hills Invitational: Hannibal sophomore Quinn Thomas got off to a sizzling start, playing the first three holes in 4-under, and finished second individually with a 4-over 75. Pirates senior Courtland Watson finished ninth with an 87.

College baseball

At Centennial Athletic Complex, Peru, Neb.

Peru State 8, Culver-Stockton College 7: Ronald Applewhite hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning and Jordan Scott hit a solo shot in the seventh inning to tie the game, but the Bobcats’ Jose Solas, the first batter reliever Jordan Isham faced, hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the frame. Applewhite and Scott had two hits apiece.

Peru State 17, Culver-Stockton College 14: A three-run rally in the top of the seventh, capped by Dax Flowerree’s RBI double, allowed the Wildcats to tie the game. In the bottom of the inning, a double and a walk preceded Devin Adams’ walk-off three-run home run. Flowerree finished 3 for 4 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs. C-SC is 4-16 overall and 0-8 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

At John Wood Community College, Quincy

Lincoln Land 13, John Wood Community College 5: The Loggers collected just six hits, but they capitalized on 11 walks and four errors in the Mid-West Athletic Conference victory. Trail Blazers sophomore Lucas Loos went 2 for 3 with a home run and two runs scored.

Lincoln Land 11, John Wood Community College 1: The Trail Blazers were limited to five hits and gave up eight runs in the fourth inning of a 10-run rule game. Tyler Bickers doubled for JWCC.
