At Monroe City, Mo.

Class 3 District 6

Monroe City 29, Mark Twain 25: Taylor Pfaff’s basket just before the buzzer at the end of the third quarter gave the fifth-seeded Panthers their first lead. Although the fourth-seeded Tigers tied the game at 19 early in the fourth quarter, Mackenzie Moss scored five of her nine points thereafter to give the Panthers the lead for good. Autumn Arndt led the Tigers with nine points. Monroe City (8-17) will face top-seeded South Shelby at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals.

Highland 40, Clark County 31: The third-seeded Cougars led by three points at the end of the third quarter and held the sixth-seeded Indians to just two field goals in the fourth quarter to pull away. Ansley Bringer led the Cougars with 21 points, making five of her six field goals in the second half and going 9 of 15 from the free-throw line. Alexis Ellison led Clark County with 10 points. Highland will face second-seeded Palmyra in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

At Edina, Mo.

Class 2 District 6

Canton 72, Knox County 21: The third-seeded Tigers limited the sixth-seeded Eagles to three field goals in the first quarter and two in the second, building a 41-14 lead at halftime. Macie Fisher led the Tigers with 25 points, hitting three 3-pointers in the third quarter. Nariah Clay added 19 points and Macy Glasgow scored 14. Canton will face second-seed Schuyler County at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals.

College baseball

At Warren Turner Field, Joplin, Mo.

Quincy 12, Northwest Missouri State 7: Trailing 5-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth, the Hawks’ offense came alive, which led to the victory and winning two out of three in the MIAA/GLVC Crossover. Quincy scored four times in the fourth, highlighted by Gino D’Alessio’s RBI single and Lance Logsdon’s two-run single. A two-run fifth featuring D’Alessio’s RBI double and Dayson Croes’ RBI single gave the Hawks the lead for good. D’Alessio went 2 for 3 with three walks and four runs scored, while Zach Parks went 3 for 6 and Austin Simpson went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Tyler Carpenter earned the victory in relief, allowing three hits in four scoreless innings.

College softball

At Gahnstrom Field, Topeka, Kan.

Washburn 7-7, Quincy University 2-6: The Hawks finished the ESU Classic winless in four games after getting swept by the Ichabods. In the opener, Washburn scored five times in the bottom of the first and was never threatened. Taylor Downen went 3 for 4 with a run scored for the Hawks. In the nightcap, the Hawks scored three times in the top of first on Casey Brennan’s bases-clearing double, but Washburn answered with five runs in the bottom of the frame. The Hawks tied the game in the fourth, but allowed an RBI double in the fifth and a solo home run in the sixth. Bailey Mitchell went 3 for 4 for the Hawks.
